Adjudicator
The Adjudicator is the Integration Point that turns committed witness records and the Issuer's reveal into outcomes, Units of Proof, findings and rates. It conforms only by producing output identical to the reference implementation on the published conformance vectors.
What it means
Scoring is not a matter of opinion. The rules for every outcome are fixed in the specification, so two adjudicators given the same records must produce the same answer. If they do not, one of them is wrong.
The rules
- Runs only after the Proof Witness has committed its records and the Issuer has revealed.
- Applies the outcome, Absence Ladder, wild canary and metric rules exactly, and assigns each outcome once.
- It is IP-8 in the Dead Canary Protocol and IP-J8 in the Jailed Canary Protocol, where it issues one verdict per booking.
- In a Coal Mine Protocol Engagement, a Provider that adjudicates makes the Engagement Provider-Run, which is forbidden.
