Record ID

A Record ID is the content hash of a Proof Protocol record's canonical form, excluding its signature envelope, so the same record has the same ID everywhere and adding a signature never changes it.

The record terms

Term Meaning
Record ID Content hash of the record’s canonical form, without signatures. The same record has the same ID everywhere.
Signature Envelope The detached, append-only set of signatures on a record. Adding a signature does not change the Record ID.
Registry Receipt A signed acknowledgment from a Registry that it recorded the record under a stated root and Time Anchor pulse.
Bundle A record that aggregates a set of Units of Proof or result series by Merkle root under one Holder.

Why it matters

A proof is a record anyone can recompute, sign, register and cite without asking its producer. Stable identity is what lets a person and a machine verify the same thing and get the same answer.
